Fry Sight Words List

The Fry Sight Words list includes 1,000 of the most common words in reading materials used in Grades 3-9. The Fry words are often organized into groups of 100, with the first 100 being the most frequently occurring, and subsequent groups following accordingly.

The Fry word list was developed by Dr. Edward Fry in 1979, and is a more modern list of words than the Dolch Sight Words list. It is estimated that children who learn all 1,000 words are equipped to read about 90% of the words in a typical book or website.
