3rd Grade Word Problems Worksheets

Third graders should solve two-step word problems using all four operations (CCSS 3.OA.D.8). They work with multiplication and division word problems within 100, including equal groups, arrays, and comparison situations. For example: "There are 4 rows of desks with 6 desks in each row. How many desks are there?" and "24 students are split equally into 3 teams. How many on each team?" Students should also represent problems using equations with a letter for the unknown quantity. Worksheets that present one problem type at a time, with visual supports like arrays or bar models, build strategy before mixing problem types. Two-step problems that require combining operations (multiply then add) are introduced gradually throughout the year.
