The heart

2 round bumps on top, 1 point at the bottom, 1 dip in the middle

How to draw a heart

Start at the dip in the top middle, curve up and around to the left, then slide down to the point at the bottom. Go back to the dip and do the same on the right side so both halves meet at the point.

Frequently Asked Questions

Hearts show up on cards, stickers and lunchbox notes long before children learn how tricky they are to draw. Preschoolers start by tracing dashed hearts and coloring them in, then try a handwriting warm-up that follows each curve down to the point. On the find page they circle every heart hiding among circles, stars and ovals, and the follow page asks them to draw a line from heart to heart across the grid. A draw page pairs the heart with a circle, so children copy each shape into empty boxes. Tracing curves that change direction builds the pencil control kids need for letters like S. Celebrate a closed shape, wobbles and all.
