What 6th grade writing and grammar worksheets are on ClassWeekly?

6th grade grammar and writing worksheets on ClassWeekly are 111 printable sheets for ages 11-12 across 14 topics, each with an answer key. They cover pronouns, sentences, punctuation, verbs, conjunctions, homophones, idioms, similes and metaphors, prefixes and suffixes, argument, informative and narrative writing, the writing process and transitions.

6th grade grammar centers on pronouns. Common Core asks students to use pronoun case correctly, use intensive pronouns like myself and themselves, and fix shifts in number and person and vague pronouns. Writing moves from opinion pieces to arguments, with claims, reasons, evidence and counter arguments.

The 111 worksheets here are split into 14 topics. Pronouns (15 sheets) covers pronoun case, intensive and reflexive pronouns, pronoun shifts, vague pronouns and pronoun agreement (CCSS L.6.1). Sentences (16) covers phrases and clauses, appositives, simple, compound and complex sentences, fragments and run-ons and parallel structure. Punctuation (11) covers nonrestrictive elements, commas, semicolons and colons. Verbs has perfect tenses, correcting verb tenses and noun-verb agreement, and smaller topics cover conjunctions and interjections, homophones, idioms, similes and metaphors and prefixes and suffixes.

Writing has its own topics: argument writing and writing counter arguments, informative essays with introductions, conclusions, research and citations, narrative writing with plot, characters and dialogue, and the writing process with editing, revising and formal and informal style (W.6.1 to W.6.9).

Every sheet has an answer key and shows its grade 6 Common Core code. One grammar sheet a day, plus one writing sheet a week, is a steady pace.
