What 4th grade vocabulary worksheets are on ClassWeekly?

4th grade vocabulary worksheets on ClassWeekly are free printable pages for children ages 9-10. They cover context clues, Greek and Latin roots, synonyms and antonyms, figurative language, analogies, academic vocabulary, and homophones and homographs: 28 sheets in 7 topics, each with an answer key and a Common Core language standard.

4th grade is when vocabulary stops being only about everyday words. Science and social studies texts bring longer words built from Greek and Latin parts, and test questions start using direction words like explain, compare and summarize.

The 28 worksheets here are split into 7 topics of 4 sheets each. Context Clues and Greek and Latin Roots teach two ways to work out an unknown word (CCSS L.4.4). Synonyms and Antonyms, Figurative Language and Analogies are about how words relate to each other (L.4.5). Academic Vocabulary covers the words school tasks are written in (L.4.6), and Homophones and Homographs tackles pairs like there, their and they're (L.4.1.G). Every page has an answer key.

Ten minutes on one topic is plenty. Pick the skill your child is unsure of, not the whole set at once.
