5th Grade Paragraphs & Passages Worksheets

Ages 10-11 · 2 sub-topics · Free previews · Print-ready PDFs

These paragraphs and passages worksheets for 5th grade give students longer, more demanding text, about 250 to 280 words, and a page of five questions. Forty original sheets written for 5th grade split evenly between nonfiction and fiction, and easier 4th grade passages are listed too. Nonfiction covers the Amazon River, black holes, the Underground Railroad and Marie Curie, and the fiction includes The Clockmaker's Secret and A Lighthouse at Midnight. Questions ask for inference, theme, point of view, text structure, analogies and word meaning from context, in multiple choice and written answers. Every sheet has an answer key. For short skill drills on one skill at a time, see the comprehension exercises and context clues pages.
