Children circle, match, color, count and draw while a grown-up reads the directions aloud.
Social studies for a preschooler starts with the world they already know: themselves, their family, their home and the people they see around town. From there it grows, one small step at a time, toward maps, money and the days a community celebrates together.
The 30 worksheets here are split into 5 topics, 6 pages each. All About Me has children draw themselves and their family, count the people at home and color a candle for each year of their age. Community Helpers matches helpers to their tools, workplaces and the problems they solve. Maps practices in, on and under, simple map symbols, the way from home to school, and land and water. Wants and Needs sorts the things people must have from the things that are nice to have. Symbols and Holidays colors the American flag, matches holidays to their symbols and asks children to draw what they are thankful for. 20 of the pages come with an answer key, and the drawing pages have no wrong answers.
