Frequently Asked Questions

Community helpers are the people whose jobs help a town run, keep people safe or help them stay healthy, like firefighters, doctors, police officers and mail carriers. Preschoolers are often fascinated by them, and learning who they are also teaches children who they can turn to when they need help. These 6 pages use big pictures and no reading. Children match each helper to the tool they use and to the place they work, match helpers to their shadows, count the tools in each box, and match a problem, like a cat stuck in a tree, to the helper who can fix it. The last page asks children to draw themselves as the helper they want to be when they grow up. Five of the six pages have an answer key.
