Frequently Asked Questions

Needs are the things people must have to live, like food, water, clothes and a home. Wants are things that are nice to have, like toys and treats. Telling the two apart is one of the first ideas in economics, and preschoolers can grasp it with clear pictures and everyday examples. These 6 pages practice it several ways. Children cut and glue pictures to sort needs and wants, circle the things we need, and circle the need in each pair of pictures. Matching clothes to the weather and homes to their shadows shows that clothing and shelter are needs too, and a piggy bank page has children count the pennies saved in each one. Every page comes with an answer key.
