Preschool Letter Sounds Worksheets
Ages 3-5 · 85 worksheets · 85 answer keys · Print-ready PDFs
Letter sounds are the sounds each letter stands for in words, such as the /m/ at the start of moon or the /t/ at the end of cat. Knowing them is what lets a child move from naming letters to sounding out and spelling words, and many children begin linking letters to sounds around age 4.
These 85 pages work on hearing sounds in three places in a word. Children say picture names and circle the letter that makes the first sound, listen for the last sound, write the missing short vowel in the middle, and find the picture in a row whose beginning or ending sound does not match. Saying each word aloud is part of every page, so a grown-up who reads the picture names clearly helps a lot. All 85 pages come with answer keys.
