Free Lesson Plan Templates (Printable and Editable)

Five templates covering the planning formats elementary teachers actually get asked for. Print the blank version, or read the filled-in example first to see how much detail each box really needs.

Which template should you use?

Daily
Use this for one lesson on one day. If you are mapping a whole week at once, the weekly template is a better fit.
Weekly
Use this on Sunday to map the week. Fill the daily template only for the lessons that need more detail than a line.
5E
Best for science and any lesson where discovery should come before the definition. It is a poor fit for procedural fluency practice.
Madeline Hunter
Use it when your evaluator expects it, or when teaching a clear procedure that benefits from tight modeling.
Differentiated
Use it when the spread in your room is wide enough that one task will lose someone at either end.

What a finished plan looks like

A blank template is only half the job. Every template here links to a complete 2nd grade addition lesson with the practice already chosen, so you can see the finished shape before you fill in your own.
