What does this worksheet teach?
⌄
Plan an informative essay on how honeybees help farms with a thesis and three subtopics. The directions on the page read: Read the topic. Fill in each box in order, from Step 1 to Step 3, to plan your informative essay. An answer key is included.
Can I use this informative essays worksheet for homeschool or classroom?
⌄
Yes, both. We made it for 6th Grade informative writing, and the page works the same whether it lands on a kitchen table or a center rotation. At home, most families go through it together and talk the answers out loud, and that talking is where most of the learning happens with informative essays. In class it runs well as independent work while you pull a small group. Print one copy or thirty, whichever the day needs.
What is a topic sentence?
⌄
A topic sentence states the main idea of a paragraph, and every detail supports it. Topic Sentences and Details has students write topic sentences for 4 detail groups, then cross out the one off-topic sentence in each of 4 paragraphs.
How do you organize a compare and contrast essay?
⌄
Use a point by point plan, one feature at a time, or a block plan, one subject at a time. Compare and Contrast Essay Planner starts with Venn notes on frogs and toads, then plans three body paragraphs.
What is a hamburger paragraph?
⌄
It is a model for an informative paragraph: a topic sentence as the top bun, facts with explanations in the middle and a closing sentence as the bottom bun. Informative Paragraph Organizer uses it to explain how a volcano forms.
