Spiral Snake Cutting Skills

Cut along the dashed spiral to make a wiggly paper snake. A free cutting skills sheet for fine motor practice. Part of our cutting skills activity packets collection.

How do I use this resource?

The continuous curve makes this best for children who can already cut a straight line. Remind them to turn the paper, not their cutting hand, as they go around. Use card stock or thicker paper so the finished snake hangs nicely. Punch a hole near the head, thread yarn through and hang a whole class of snakes from the ceiling. At home, hang one near a fan or window and watch it spin.

What does this resource teach?

⌄

A one-page scissor skills activity built around a large spiral snake. Children color the snake and its spots, cut around the outer circle, then follow the dashed spiral from a green Start dot at the tail toward the smiling face in the center. When the paper is lifted, it uncoils into a hanging snake. Three numbered steps at the bottom, Color, Cut and Hang, show the order with pictures.

Can I use this cutting skills resource for homeschool or classroom?

⌄

Yes, both. We made it for Kindergarten activity packets, and the page works the same whether it lands on a kitchen table or a center rotation. At home, most families go through it together and talk the answers out loud, and that talking is where most of the learning happens with cutting skills. In class it runs well as independent work while you pull a small group. Print one copy or thirty, whichever the day needs.

How many Kindergarten cutting skills resources are there?

⌄

1 printable resource, all free to preview. Downloads are included with a ClassWeekly free trial, and every page prints on standard 8.5 x 11 paper.

What age are cutting skills resources for?

⌄

These are written for Kindergarten students, roughly ages 5-6. Many teachers also use them a grade up for review or a grade down as an extension, so use the preview to judge the fit for a particular child.
