16 pages in this set
Clap and count - Set 8: Say each word out loud and clap once for every beat you hear. Then, circle the number of claps. A syllable is one beat in a word. Clapping the beats counts them. Part of our clap and count syllables collection.
How do I use this worksheet?
Clap along the first few times so the child hears the rhythm. Putting a hand under the chin also works, since the chin drops once for each beat.
What students will practice
- Students will say each word aloud and clap once for every beat.
- Students will count the claps to find the number of syllables.
- Students will circle the number that matches the claps.

What does this worksheet teach?
⌄
Each item shows a picture word with number choices beside it. Children say the word, clap the beats and circle how many claps they made. It introduces syllables as beats you can hear and feel. Answer keys are included.
Can I use this clap and count worksheet for homeschool or classroom?
⌄
Yes, both. We made it for Preschool syllables, and the page works the same whether it lands on a kitchen table or a center rotation. At home, most families go through it together and talk the answers out loud, and that talking is where most of the learning happens with clap and count. In class it runs well as independent work while you pull a small group. Print one copy or thirty, whichever the day needs.
How many Preschool clap and count worksheets are there?
⌄
16 printable worksheets, all free to preview. Downloads are included with a ClassWeekly free trial, and every page prints on standard 8.5 x 11 paper.
What age are clap and count worksheets for?
⌄
These are written for preschool children, roughly ages 3-5. Start with the first few pages, use the free preview to judge the fit, and come back to harder ones as your child gets steadier.
Does my child need to know how to write for these clap and count worksheets?
⌄
No. Most pages ask children to circle, match, color, or cut and paste, and a grown-up can read the instructions aloud, so children do not need to read or write yet.
