Fables is taught across 5 grades, and it looks different at each one. Pick the grade you teach: every plan below has its own objective, timed sequence and matching practice pages.

Why the same topic needs a different lesson at each grade

A topic label like “fables” hides a lot of progression. What a kindergartener does with it and what a fifth grader does with it share a name and very little else, which is why these are separate plans rather than one plan with a grade selector.

Using these plans across a mixed group

If you teach a split class, a homeschool group with siblings, or an intervention block, run the same topic at two levels rather than two topics at once. One introduction, then children work the practice that matches where they actually are. That is far easier to manage than parallel lessons and it lets the older students explain to the younger ones, which is where most of the consolidation happens.

When a student stalls, drop a grade rather than reteaching the same page more loudly. The plan one level down usually rebuilds the missing idea concretely, and it is the fastest route back to grade level.
