Sight Word “is” Worksheets

"The sky is blue. My dog is silly. Lunch is ready!" Early readers meet "is" over and over, usually in the middle of a sentence. It is short, but there is a small surprise inside: the s sounds like a z. Pre-K children trace "is," write it on a line and circle it in a row, then look through a word grid to circle every "is" and count. Kindergartners read the word, trace it and read a picture sentence out loud. In 1st grade, Print the word: is asks kids to read a sentence, trace the word three times and print it three times.
