Jack-o-Lantern Cutting Skills
Written by Adi Ackerman, Head Teacher
"Jack-o-Lantern Cutting Skills" is written for Kindergarten (Ages 5-6). Children a grade either side can use it too: younger ones with an adult reading it aloud, older ones as a quick refresher.

Cut out the eyes, nose and mouth and glue them on to make a jack-o-lantern. A free Halloween cutting activity. Part of our cutting skills holiday activities collection.
How do I use this resource?
Let children color the pumpkin orange first, and the face pieces yellow or black, before cutting. Smaller pieces like the nose are tricky, so younger kids may need help with those. Print extra copies so children can make both faces and compare them. Perfect for a fall party table or a quiet October afternoon. At home, use the finished paper pumpkin to plan the face you will carve on a real one.

What does this resource teach?
⌄
A Halloween cutting and gluing page with one large pumpkin and two sets of face pieces. The Spooky Face set has two triangle eyes, a triangle nose and a jagged mouth. The Happy Face set has two curved eyes, a round nose and a smile. Each piece sits in its own dashed box. Children pick one face, cut out the four pieces and glue them onto the pumpkin. Small pictures of a jack-o-lantern and bats add to the theme.

Can I use this cutting skills resource for homeschool or classroom?
⌄
Yes, both. We made it for Kindergarten holiday activities, and the page works the same whether it lands on a kitchen table or a center rotation. At home, most families go through it together and talk the answers out loud, and that talking is where most of the learning happens with cutting skills. In class it runs well as independent work while you pull a small group. Print one copy or thirty, whichever the day needs.
How many Kindergarten cutting skills resources are there?
⌄
2 printable resources, all free to preview. Downloads are included with a ClassWeekly free trial, and every page prints on standard 8.5 x 11 paper.
What age are cutting skills resources for?
⌄
These are written for Kindergarten students, roughly ages 5-6. Many teachers also use them a grade up for review or a grade down as an extension, so use the preview to judge the fit for a particular child.
