Multiply the non-zero digits together, then count and attach the combined zeros — for example, 40 × 70: multiply 4 × 7 = 28, attach two zeros for 2,800.
How many zeros does the product of two whole tens always have at minimum?⌄
At least two zeros — one from each factor — though the product of the non-zero digits may also end in zero, creating three or more zeros in the product.
How do these problems build toward 2-digit by 2-digit multiplication?⌄
