Halloween paper bat craft for K to 2nd grade: color, cut, fold and glue a bat with accordion wings. Step cards and templates included. Part of our crafts holiday activities collection.

How do I use this resource?

Model the accordion fold once before students start, since that is the step most children need help with. Color first, then cut, then fold back and forth along the dotted lines and glue the tabs behind the body. Hang the finished bats from the ceiling or a window.

What students will practice

  • Gives Kindergarten students seasonal counting, vocabulary, and fine-motor activities themed around Christmas and Easter.
  • Builds early counting and matching skills alongside coloring and cutting practice that strengthens pencil control.
  • Works as low-pressure seasonal filler for the days around a holiday break, not core skill instruction.

FAQ

How do I use this crafts resource?

⌄

Model the accordion fold once before students start, since that is the step most children need help with. Color first, then cut, then fold back and forth along the dotted lines and glue the tabs behind the body. Hang the finished bats from the ceiling or a window.

What does this resource teach?

⌄

Two pages: four picture step cards (color, cut, fold the wings, glue) with a large bat body template, and a page with the left and right wings. The wings have dashed cut lines, glue tabs and dotted fold lines for an accordion fold.

Can I use this crafts resource for homeschool or classroom?

⌄

Yes, both. We made it for Kindergarten to 2nd Grade holiday activities, and the page works the same whether it lands on a kitchen table or a center rotation. At home, most families go through it together and talk the answers out loud, and that talking is where most of the learning happens with crafts. In class it runs well as independent work while you pull a small group. Print one copy or thirty, whichever the day needs.

How many Kindergarten to 2nd Grade crafts resources are there?

⌄

1 printable resource, all free to preview. Downloads are included with a ClassWeekly free trial, and every page prints on standard 8.5 x 11 paper.

What age are crafts resources for?

⌄

These are written for Kindergarten to 2nd Grade students, roughly ages 5-8. Many teachers also use them a grade up for review or a grade down as an extension, so use the preview to judge the fit for a particular child.
