Frequently Asked Questions

Pre-writing is everything a child does with a pencil before writing letters: straight lines, curves, zigzags, loops and the shapes they make. Between ages 3 and 5 the small muscles of the hand are still getting stronger, so wobbly lines are normal, and steady practice with big, simple strokes is what makes letters easier later. The 85 pages here start with prewriting strokes and short paths that run from a picture to where it is going, then move on to tracing lines, shape tracing, mazes, dot to dot pictures, pencil control and cutting practice. Every path starts at a green dot, so a child always knows where to begin. A grown-up reads each direction aloud, and 33 pages have an answer key, including every maze and dot to dot.
