Preschool Handwriting Worksheets
Ages 3-5 · 76 worksheets · 6 answer keys · Print-ready PDFs
Handwriting in preschool starts well before letters. Children first need the pencil control to draw straight lines, curves, zigzags and loops, because nearly every letter is built from those strokes. Between ages 3 and 5, many children move from scribbling to tracing shapes, then to writing a few letters, often starting with their own name.
The 76 pages here follow that path. Prewriting pages have children trace dashed lines from one picture to another, and shape pages have them trace circles, squares, triangles and more. Later pages ask them to trace color words and number words, trace and write first names, and trace two short sentences before writing each one again. Six letter writing check-ins, which come with answer keys, show which uppercase and lowercase letters a child can write without a model.
