How to write F and f
- Uppercase F:
- Pull a straight line down from the top line to the baseline. Go back to the top and draw a line across to the right, then add a shorter line across the middle.
- Lowercase f:
- Start just below the top line, curve up and over to the left like the top of a candy cane, and pull straight down to the baseline. Lift the pencil and cross it with a short line at the midline.

Frequently Asked Questions
Say fish, frog, fan and fox together and you'll hear a soft rush of air at the start of each one. That's /f/, and this set gives it plenty of practice. Your preschooler traces and writes uppercase F and lowercase f, hunts for Ff in a mixed-letter box, circles beginning letters on the sounds page, and finishes "F is for fish" by tracing Ff. Kindergarten has an F tracing page and a letter recognition page with a frog. First grade adds a word search. Look in the practice row for matching and missing-letter pages, and save the cursive F page for later on. Answer keys are included for several pages.
