How to write Q and q

Uppercase Q:
Make a big O: start just below the top line, curve left, around the bottom and back up to close. Then add a short slanted tail across the bottom right.
Lowercase q:
Start like a c just below the midline and close the circle. Pull a straight line down the right side below the baseline. Some styles add a small flick to the right at the end.

Frequently Asked Questions

Every picture in this Q set, a queen, a quilt, a quail and a question mark, starts with Q followed by u. Your child traces and writes uppercase Q, an O with a little tail, and lowercase q, which starts like a c and drops below the line. Then they circle every Q and q in a letter box, circle first letters on the beginning sounds page, and trace Qq on "Q is for queen." The queen comes back on the kindergarten letter recognition page, alongside a tracing page, and 1st grade gets a Q word search. Cursive Q is a later step, and mixed-letter practice pages sit below. Answer keys are included for several pages.
