Trace the Slanted Lines, Down the Slide

Free printable preschool fine motor worksheet: trace slanted lines to help children slide down into a sandbox, ball pit, leaf pile and pool. Part of our tracing lines fine motor skills collection.

How do I use this worksheet?

Start with the straight and up and down lines, then try the harder slants, zigzags and loops. Let your child trace a path with a finger before using a crayon, and keep the paper still with the other hand. Wobbly lines are fine at this age.

What students will practice

  • Students will trace straight, up and down, slanted, wavy, zigzag and looped lines from start to finish.
  • Students will begin each line at the green dot and keep the pencil on the dashed path.
  • Students will build the hand control they need for the strokes that make up letters.

FAQ

How do I use this tracing lines worksheet?

⌄

Start with the straight and up and down lines, then try the harder slants, zigzags and loops. Let your child trace a path with a finger before using a crayon, and keep the paper still with the other hand. Wobbly lines are fine at this age.

What does this worksheet teach?

⌄

Six tracing pages, one kind of line on each: straight paths that take animals home, up and down rain, slanted lines down slides, wavy lines for fish, zigzag bunny hops and loops that carry bees to flowers. Every path starts at a green dot and ends at a picture, so the child can see where the line is going.

Can I use this tracing lines worksheet for homeschool or classroom?

⌄

Yes, both. We made it for Preschool fine motor skills, and the page works the same whether it lands on a kitchen table or a center rotation. At home, most families go through it together and talk the answers out loud, and that talking is where most of the learning happens with tracing lines. In class it runs well as independent work while you pull a small group. Print one copy or thirty, whichever the day needs.

How many Preschool tracing lines worksheets are there?

⌄

6 printable worksheets, all free to preview. Downloads are included with a ClassWeekly free trial, and every page prints on standard 8.5 x 11 paper.

What age are tracing lines worksheets for?

⌄

These are written for preschool children, roughly ages 3-5. Start with the first few pages, use the free preview to judge the fit, and come back to harder ones as your child gets steadier.

Does my child need to write letters already?

⌄

No. Pages start with tracing over dashed guides and build up to writing on their own, one small step at a time.
