Lohri is usually celebrated on January 13, a Wednesday in 2027, the night before Makar Sankranti.

Lohri is a winter harvest festival celebrated mainly in Punjab, in northern India and Pakistan, and by Punjabi families around the world. Families gather around a bonfire, sing and dance to the dhol drum, and share popcorn, peanuts, sesame sweets and sugarcane.

What Lohri activities work for young children?

Lohri coloring pages, a Lohri I Spy, a read and write the room set and a collaborative class poster. Older students can solve the Lohri array cards and color the Lohri night poster.
