L Blend Spelling Words

Written by Adi Ackerman, Head Teacher

"L Blend Spelling Words" is written for 2nd Grade (Ages 7-8), and it covers Common Core L.2.2.D. If your little one is a year younger but already steady on spelling, the page still works. You may just need to read the instructions out loud. And if they are older and trace and write spelling words never quite stuck, this is a short review rather than busywork.

Read, trace and write 10 l blend words like black, clap and plum, then finish sentences. A blend is two consonants (not vowels) side by side. You hear each sound. In an l blend, l is second, as in flip. The directions on the page read: Read each word. Trace it. Then, write the word on the line by yourself. On page 2: Read the words in the word bank. Then, write the word that best finishes each sentence. The answer key covers the questions on page 2.

Can I use this trace and write spelling words worksheet for homeschool or classroom?

⌄

Yes, both. We made it for 2nd Grade spelling, and the page works the same whether it lands on a kitchen table or a center rotation. At home, most families go through it together and talk the answers out loud, and that talking is where most of the learning happens with trace and write spelling words. In class it runs well as independent work while you pull a small group. Print one copy or thirty, whichever the day needs.

How many 2nd Grade trace and write spelling words worksheets are there?
