What 2nd grade worksheets are available on ClassWeekly?

2nd grade worksheets on ClassWeekly cover math, reading, writing, and grammar for children ages 7-8. Each worksheet targets a specific Common Core 2nd grade standard and is designed for 15 to 25 minutes of practice. Topics include addition and subtraction with regrouping, reading comprehension, paragraph writing, and pronoun use.

2nd grade is the bridge year. Your kid moves from "learning to read" to "reading to learn," from counting to calculating, from sentences to paragraphs. By the end of the year, they're solving two-step word problems, reading short chapter books independently, and writing a short paragraph with a main idea and supporting details.

The 2nd grade hub covers all four subjects. Math: addition and subtraction within 100 (including regrouping), place value to 1,000, intro to multiplication (groups of), simple fractions, measurement in inches and centimeters, telling time to the minute, money problems. Reading: phonics review, fluency at grade-level passages, story elements, main idea, comparing characters. Grammar: pronouns, adjectives, contractions, irregular plurals, longer compound sentences. Writing: paragraph structure, sequencing, opinion writing.

Every worksheet is aligned to a specific Common Core 2nd grade standard. The code is printed on the page.

The hardest skills for most 2nd graders are subtraction with regrouping (borrowing), reading comprehension on informational text, and identifying the main idea of a paragraph. If your kid is stuck on one of those, it's worth slowing down. Two weeks of focused practice on regrouping is more useful than racing through twenty mixed-skill pages.

A reasonable practice load is 15 to 25 minutes a day for most days, with weekends optional. Consistency beats intensity. If your kid is doing well at school, light review is fine. If they're struggling, a daily focused block on the weak area helps.
