Make a Sentence Game

Children pick one card from each column, say the full sentence out loud, then write it. Silly combinations such as a bear singing in the kitchen on Sunday keep reluctant writers going. In class, laminate a copy, cut the 16 cards apart and draw one from each pile at a writing center. At home, take turns building sentences at the table. Check that every sentence starts with a capital and ends with a period before moving on.
