What does this cover?

Counting and numeral work across 11 to 20, the teen numbers, in a summer theme. These are the hardest numbers in early math, so they benefit most from practice over a break.
Why are the teen numbers so difficult?
⌄
Because the names fight the notation. Eleven and twelve give no clue at all, and thirteen through nineteen say the ones digit first while the ten is written first. Children who count to 100 confidently often still stumble here.
What helps with the teens?

Show that each teen is a ten and some more, using a ten frame or ten counters plus extras. Seeing that 14 is a full ten and four makes the name and the numeral agree, which listening alone never does.
What is a summer bridge calendar?

A summer bridge calendar is a plan of short daily activities that keeps skills fresh between one grade and the next. The Kindergarten to 1st grade calendar has 50 activities over 10 weeks, Monday to Friday, each about 15 minutes.
