3rd Grade Point of View Worksheets

Ages 8-9 · 2 sub-topics · Free previews · Print-ready PDFs

These point of view worksheets for 3rd grade teach children to tell who is telling a story or text and what that person thinks. On the narrator pages, children read an original story, like a new baby brother, a snow fort contest or a cat who meets a new puppy, decide if it is told in first or third person, copy the pronouns that show it, and tell how the narrator feels (CCSS RL.3.6). On the author's point of view pages, they read a short opinion article about school gardens, longer recess, bike helmets or shelter pets, circle and copy the author's opinion, then write their own opinion with a reason (RI.3.6). Each sheet has the passage on page one and the questions on page two. Ten original sheets, each with an answer key.

Frequently Asked Questions

Point of view is who is telling the story and how they see it. In 3rd grade, children tell whether a story is told in first person (I and me) or third person (he, she and they), and they compare the narrator's or author's view with their own (RL.3.6 and RI.3.6).
