3rd Grade Text Features Worksheets

Ages 8-9 · 1 sub-topic · Free previews · Print-ready PDFs

These text features worksheets for 3rd grade show children how headings, captions, diagrams and glossaries help them find facts fast (CCSS RI.3.5). Each sheet has a short original article on page one, about sloths, the parts of a bicycle, hot air balloons, the Great Lakes, ladybugs, glaciers, Wilma Rudolph, tide pools, prairie dog towns or recycling paper. Every article has headings and a glossary plus one main graphic, such as a labeled diagram, a life cycle diagram, a table, a timeline or a flow chart (RI.3.7). On page two, children pick which feature answers a question, name the heading that tells about a part of the topic, and write answers using the graphic and the text. Ten original sheets, each with an answer key.
