Inside My Body, Write the Parts
Written by Adi Ackerman, Head Teacher
"Inside My Body, Write the Parts" is written for 1st Grade (Ages 6-7). If your little one is a year younger but already steady on our bodies, the page still works. You may just need to read the instructions out loud. And if they are older and body systems never quite stuck, this is a short review rather than busywork.

1st grade science worksheet: write brain, heart, lungs, stomach and bones on the lines of a body outline. Answer key included. Part of our body systems our bodies collection. Aligned to NGSS standards.
How do I use this worksheet?
Start with something students can look at or think about: a photo, a short video, a jar on the windowsill, or a question like "what do you already know about body systems?" Then let them work through the first item together as a class, then finish the rest independently or with a partner, keeping a word bank or anchor chart in view so the vocabulary stays available. When you review, ask students how they knew, and let them point to the part of the diagram or reading that told them. These body systems worksheets work well as a lead in before an investigation, as a way to capture what students noticed afterward, or as review before an assessment.
What students will practice
- Identify at least three body systems including skeletal, muscular, and digestive
- Describe the main job of each body system
- Explain how body systems work together to keep the body healthy

What does this worksheet teach?
⌄
Write brain, heart, lungs, stomach and bones on the lines of a body outline. Many parts inside your body work hard to keep you alive. You cannot see them, but you can learn where they are. The directions on the page read: Read the clues in the word bank. Then, write each word on the line that points to that part. The answer key shows every answer.
Can I use this body systems worksheet for homeschool or classroom?
⌄
Yes, both. We made it for 1st Grade our bodies, and the page works the same whether it lands on a kitchen table or a center rotation. At home, most families go through it together and talk the answers out loud, and that talking is where most of the learning happens with body systems. In class it runs well as independent work while you pull a small group. Print one copy or thirty, whichever the day needs.
What does body systems teach first graders?
⌄
First graders are introduced to the major body systems at a basic level, learning that the body is made up of different parts that each have a special job. They explore the skeletal system for support, the muscular system for movement, and the digestive system for processing food. This early exposure builds science vocabulary and curiosity about how the human body works.
When do first graders learn about body systems?
⌄
Body systems are typically introduced during a Grade 1 unit on the human body or our bodies, often in the fall. The content is kept simple and visual, using diagrams and matching activities to make internal systems feel accessible to young learners.
How can I use these worksheets at home?
⌄
Ask your child to flex a muscle, feel their heartbeat, or take a deep breath and then connect those experiences to the body system being studied. Worksheets with simple diagrams and labeling activities work well at the kitchen table. Following up with an age-appropriate body systems book from the library extends the learning.
How many 1st Grade body systems worksheets are there?
⌄
3 printable worksheets, all free to preview. Downloads are included with a ClassWeekly free trial, and every page prints on standard 8.5 x 11 paper.
What age are body systems worksheets for?
⌄
These are written for 1st Grade students, roughly ages 6-7. Many teachers also use them a grade up for review or a grade down as an extension, so use the preview to judge the fit for a particular child.
Are these body systems worksheets aligned to NGSS?
⌄
Yes. Each one shows the NGSS code it covers on its own page, so you can check the alignment yourself rather than taking our word for it.
