Forces and movement

"Forces and movement" is written for Kindergarten (Ages 3-6), and it covers NGSS K-PS2-1. If your little one is a year younger but already steady on forces and motion, the page still works. You may just need to read the instructions out loud. And if they are older and forces and movement never quite stuck, this is a short review rather than busywork.

How do I use this worksheet?
Start with something students can look at or think about: a photo, a short video, a jar on the windowsill, or a question like "what do you already know about forces and movement?" Then let them work through it with your modeling first (do the first item together on the board), then try the rest with a partner, keeping a word bank or anchor chart in view so the vocabulary stays available. When you review, ask students how they knew, and let them point to the part of the diagram or reading that told them. These forces and movement worksheets work well as a lead in before an investigation, as a way to capture what students noticed afterward, or as review before an assessment.

That worksheet compares familiar animals and vehicles, like a dog and a baby or a race car and a bike. This one isolates the physics: the same ball on two different ramp angles or with two different pushes.
Which should come first?

Comparing everyday things that are obviously fast or slow builds the vocabulary of speed first. This worksheet then applies it to the more abstract idea of force and ramp angle.
