4th Grade Waves and Light Worksheets

Ages 9-10 · 1 sub-topic · Free previews · Print-ready PDFs

A wave is a repeating pattern of motion that carries energy, not matter. These waves and light worksheets for 4th grade teach that a wave's amplitude is its height from the middle up to the crest and its wavelength is the distance from one crest to the next, with calm and stormy ocean waves, a beach ball bobbing on a pond and a stadium wave (NGSS 4-PS4-1). Five light sheets show that we see an object when light bounces off it into our eyes, with a dark room, a periscope's two mirrors and a bike reflector (4-PS4-2). Four more show that a code is a pattern that carries a message, from Morse's 1844 telegraph message to signal flags at sea and a text message turned into 1s and 0s (4-PS4-3). There are 12 original sheets, each with an answer key. The 4th grade Sound waves and Light sheets from the Energy topic also appear on this page.
