4th Grade Paragraph Organization Worksheets

Ages 9-10 · Free previews · Print-ready PDFs

Written by Adi Ackerman, Head Teacher

These paragraph organization worksheets for 4th grade show how a paragraph is built, one part at a time (CCSS W.4.2.A, W.4.2.C). Students name five kinds of hooks, put the sentences of a pinecone bird feeder how-to and a bean plant story in order, pick the best topic sentence for paragraphs about bats and penguins, sort transitions by time order, more ideas, examples and contrast, cross out the sentence that does not belong and match closing sentences to paragraphs about sea otters and kites. Four planners walk through a hamburger paragraph about the best season, a topic sentence ladder for body paragraphs about caring for a pet, steps in order for a paper airplane and a matching introduction and conclusion about learning to swim. There are 10 original one-page sheets; the 6 practice pages have an answer key, and the 4 planners do not.
