3rd Grade Friendly Letters Worksheets

Ages 8-9 · Free previews · Print-ready PDFs

Written by Adi Ackerman, Head Teacher

A friendly letter is a letter to someone you know, and it has 5 parts: the date, the greeting, the body, the closing and the signature. These friendly letter worksheets for 3rd grade hold 4 sheets, each with an answer key (CCSS W.3.4). Children label the 5 parts of a letter from Rosa about her new puppy, number the parts of a letter from Theo to his grandpa in order, plan and write a letter to a new pen pal in another state, and read a letter from Nora at summer camp, then write a reply that answers her 2 questions. The writing pages show a sample letter, since each child's letter will differ.

Frequently Asked Questions

The date at the top, the greeting, like Dear Kai, the body with the news, the closing, like Your friend, and the signature, which is the writer's name. A comma follows the greeting and the closing.
