Ages 5-6 · Free previews · Print-ready PDFs

Written by Adi Ackerman, Head Teacher

Sort and count means putting things into groups by kind, color, size or pattern, then counting how many are in each group. These 10 sort and count worksheets for kindergarten each show a busy picture, such as farm animals, a fruit bowl, ocean animals, socks on clotheslines or a two week weather calendar. Children count each kind, write the number in the box beside its picture and circle the group with the most or the fewest, with numbers to 10 (CCSS K.MD.B.3). Every sheet has an answer key.

Frequently Asked Questions

Sorting puts things that are alike into groups, such as cows, pigs and hens, or red, blue and yellow shapes. Counting each group then tells how many are in it. CCSS K.MD.B.3 asks kindergartners to sort objects into categories, count each one and sort the categories by count, with no more than 10 in a group.
