4th Grade Making Predictions Worksheets

Ages 9-10 · Free previews · Print-ready PDFs

Written by Adi Ackerman, Head Teacher

These making predictions worksheets for 4th grade teach children to make a prediction from clues and then check it (CCSS RL.4.1). Each original story comes in two parts: a hand drawn map found in a used bird book, a kitten crying under the porch next door, a science fair volcano that will not erupt and a train stuck on the way to a big game. After Part 1, children copy a clue and write a prediction in a Stop and Predict box. After Part 2, they say whether the prediction was right, answer questions about the ending and copy the Part 1 clue that fits it. Four original sheets, each with an answer key.

Frequently Asked Questions

A prediction is a smart guess about what will happen later in a story, based on clues, the details you have read so far. A good prediction can still turn out wrong, as long as it fits the clues.
