4th Grade Story Elements Worksheets

Ages 9-10 · 1 sub-topic · Free previews · Print-ready PDFs

These story elements worksheets for 4th grade teach children to describe a character in depth from what the character does, says and thinks (CCSS RL.4.3). Each sheet has an original story, such as Maya helping a lost puppy, Theo at a spelling bee, Mateo as the new kid on a soccer team or Ana finding a wallet on a city bus. On page two, children chart what an action, a line of dialogue, a thought or a choice shows about the character, answer two multiple choice questions about why the character acts that way, and explain what the character learns or how they change with two details. Other pages compare two characters, like a brother and sister on a road trip or two friends in a fight over a tree house. There are 16 original sheets, each with an answer key.
