These story elements worksheets for 3rd grade teach children to describe characters and map out a whole story. Sixteen character analysis sheets each have an original story, such as Nora finding the class turtle, Kofi learning a hard spelling word or Leo sharing the last muffin. Children tell what a character's actions, words, thoughts or choices show, explain why the character acts or changes, and compare two characters (CCSS RL.3.3). Eight story map sheets, about a runaway hamster, a lost red mitten, a snowman contest and more, have children fill in the characters, setting, problem and solution or the beginning, middle and end, then number the events in order. There are 24 original sheets, each with an answer key.
