FAQ

How do I use the Abraham Lincoln Emergent Reader?

⌄

An adult reads each page aloud and the child traces the word. Cut out the pages, put them in order and staple along one side.

What is the Abraham Lincoln Emergent Reader?

⌄

Two sheets with four mini pages each: a cover with a name line and seven numbered pages. The sentences say he was born in a log cabin, loved to read, was called Honest Abe, was our 16th president, helped end slavery, is on the penny and the five-dollar bill, and is remembered on Presidents' Day. Each numbered page has one word to trace.

Can I use the Abraham Lincoln Emergent Reader at home and in the classroom?

⌄

Yes. We made it for Kindergarten to 1st Grade holiday activities, and it works the same at home or at school. Families print it for one child and keep it where they will use it every day. Teachers print a copy per student or one for the whole room, whichever the day needs.

How many Kindergarten to 1st Grade Presidents' Day resources are there?

⌄

3 printable resources, all free to preview. There are 34 Presidents' Day resources in all, from Preschool to 5th Grade, gathered on our Presidents' Day activities page. Downloads are included with a ClassWeekly free trial, and every page prints on standard 8.5 x 11 paper.

What age are Presidents' Day resources for?

⌄

These are written for Kindergarten to 1st Grade students, roughly ages 5-7. Many teachers also use them a grade up for review or a grade down as an extension, so use the preview to judge the fit for a particular child.

Can I use these Presidents' Day resources for homeschool?

⌄

Yes. Nothing here assumes a classroom of 25, so they work the same one-to-one at the kitchen table as they do in a Kindergarten to 1st Grade classroom, a learning center, or a tutoring session.
