Picture Scenes and Wh-Question Cards

Read the caption aloud first, since the when and why answers come from it rather than the picture. Cut the answer cards apart and shuffle them so the matching takes real thinking. In speech sessions, have the child answer out loud in a full sentence before placing the card. Laminate the pages and add a strip of hook-and-loop tape to reuse them. Parents can extend a scene at home by asking a sixth question of their own.
