Ages 7-8 · Free previews · Print-ready PDFs

Written by Adi Ackerman, Head Teacher

A friendly letter is a letter to someone you know, with five parts: the date, a greeting, a body, a closing and a signature. These letter writing worksheets for 2nd grade hold 6 sheets. In five, children read a short model letter by a made-up student and then write their own, a thank you for a birthday gift, a thank you to a crossing guard, a request to their teacher for a new class game with two reasons, three facts about where they live for a pen pal and a letter to a friend about a book they liked. The sixth sheet has children match each part of a letter to its job and write a greeting and a closing with commas, and it has an answer key. The pages support W.2.1 (an opinion with reasons), W.2.2 (facts) and L.2.2.B (commas in greetings and closings).
