Complete Three Equivalent Fractions

Written by Adi Ackerman, Head Teacher

"Complete Three Equivalent Fractions" is written for 6th Grade (Ages 11-12). If your student is a year younger but already steady on converting fractions & mixed numbers, the page still works. You may just need to read the instructions out loud. And if they are older and equivalent fractions never quite stuck, this is a short review rather than busywork.

FAQ

How do I use this equivalent fractions worksheet?

⌄

Start with the pairs page, then rows of three, then rows of four. Encourage students to simplify one fraction in a row to find the link.

What does this worksheet teach?

⌄

Fill in missing numbers so 16 rows of three fractions match, like 4/9 = 32/72 = 36/81. The directions on the page read: Write the missing numbers so all three fractions in each row are equal. An answer key is included.

Can I use this equivalent fractions worksheet for homeschool or classroom?

⌄

Yes, both. We made it for 6th Grade converting fractions & mixed numbers, and the page works the same whether it lands on a kitchen table or a center rotation. At home, most families go through it together and talk the answers out loud, and that talking is where most of the learning happens with equivalent fractions. In class it runs well as independent work while you pull a small group. Print one copy or thirty, whichever the day needs.

How do you find an equivalent fraction?

⌄

Multiply or divide the numerator and the denominator by the same number. For 2/5, multiplying both by 3 gives 6/15.

How do you find a missing number in a row of equivalent fractions?

⌄

Find the number that links two complete fractions, or simplify one to lowest terms first. In 4/14 = 6/21 = 12/42, each fraction simplifies to 2/7.

Do these worksheets have answer keys?

⌄

Yes. All 3 sheets have an answer key with every missing number filled in.
