Written by Adi Ackerman, Head Teacher
"Divide Decimals With Whole Number Quotients" is written for 6th Grade (Ages 11-12), and it covers Common Core 6.NS.B.3. If your student is a year younger but already steady on decimal division, the page still works. You may just need to read the instructions out loud. And if they are older and divide decimals by decimals never quite stuck, this is a short review rather than busywork.

6th grade math worksheet: divide 24 decimals by decimals with whole number answers, like 1.2 ÷ 0.02 and 0.91 ÷ 0.07. Answer key included. Part of our divide decimals by decimals decimal division collection. Aligned to Common Core standards.
How do I use this worksheet?
Start with Divide Tenths by Tenths to build the idea of how many groups fit. Then have students rewrite each long division problem with both points moved before dividing.
What students will practice
- Students will divide 24 decimals by decimals where every quotient is a whole number.
- Students will move the point in both numbers until the divisor is whole, as in 2.7 ÷ 0.09.
- Students will divide by hundredths such as 0.05, 0.06 and 0.08, as in 0.84 ÷ 0.06.

FAQ
How do I use this divide decimals by decimals worksheet?
⌄
Start with Divide Tenths by Tenths to build the idea of how many groups fit. Then have students rewrite each long division problem with both points moved before dividing.
What does this worksheet teach?
⌄
Divide 24 decimals by decimals with whole number answers, like 1.2 ÷ 0.02 and 0.91 ÷ 0.07. Move the decimal point in the divisor and the dividend the same number of places to the right, so the divisor becomes a whole number. The directions on the page read: Divide. Each answer is a whole number. An answer key is included.
Can I use this divide decimals by decimals worksheet for homeschool or classroom?
⌄
Yes, both. We made it for 6th Grade decimal division, and the page works the same whether it lands on a kitchen table or a center rotation. At home, most families go through it together and talk the answers out loud, and that talking is where most of the learning happens with divide decimals by decimals. In class it runs well as independent work while you pull a small group. Print one copy or thirty, whichever the day needs.
Why do you move the decimal point in both numbers?
⌄
Moving both points the same number of places multiplies both numbers by the same power of 10, so the quotient does not change. On Divide Decimals by 1- and 2-Digit Decimals, 1.8 ÷ 0.3 = 18 ÷ 3 = 6.
What does dividing by a decimal mean?
⌄
It asks how many groups of the divisor fit in the dividend. On Divide Tenths by Tenths, 1.5 ÷ 0.5 = 3, because 3 groups of 0.5 make 1.5.
What if the dividend has fewer decimal places than the divisor?
⌄
Write zeros at the end of the dividend as you move its point. On Divide Decimals by Decimals With Up to 3 Places, 0.27 ÷ 0.08 becomes 27 ÷ 8 = 3.375.
