3rd Grade Making Predictions Worksheets

Ages 8-9 · Free previews · Print-ready PDFs

Written by Adi Ackerman, Head Teacher

These making predictions worksheets for 3rd grade teach children to make a smart guess from clues and then check it (CCSS RL.3.1). Each original story comes in two parts: Jonah's red kite pulled away over a pond, Maria and Theo running for class plant monitor, Ali's tall sandcastle near the waves, a striped seed with no label, a rustle outside Marcus's backyard tent and Kiwi the parrot left home with a radio cooking show. After Part 1, children copy a clue and write a prediction before they turn the page. After Part 2, they circle whether the prediction was right, answer two questions about the ending and copy the Part 1 clue that pointed to it. Six original sheets, each with an answer key.

Frequently Asked Questions

A prediction is a smart guess about what will happen next in a story. You base it on clues, the details you have read so far. A prediction can turn out wrong and still be a good one, as long as it fits the clues.
