Fractions to decimals (include repeating decimals)

When performing long division, a remainder repeats — students will see the same digit or group of digits appearing in the quotient over and over.

A bar drawn over the repeating digit or group (e.g., 0.3̄ for 1/3 = 0.333...) is the standard notation for repeating decimals.

1/3 (0.333...), 2/3 (0.666...), 1/6 (0.1666...), and 1/7 (0.142857...) are the repeating decimals students encounter most often at this level.
