Written by Adi Ackerman, Head Teacher
"Convert Fractions to Decimals Using Long Division" is written for 6th Grade (Ages 11-12). If your student is a year younger but already steady on fractions & decimals, the page still works. You may just need to read the instructions out loud. And if they are older and fractions to decimals never quite stuck, this is a short review rather than busywork.

⌄
Start with the tenths and hundredths page, then use the long division page and have students show the division for each fraction.
What does this worksheet teach?
⌄
Use long division to write 6 fractions such as 3/8 and 17/40 as decimals, adding zeros after the point. The directions on the page read: Divide to write each fraction as a decimal. Show your work. An answer key is included.
Can I use this fractions to decimals worksheet for homeschool or classroom?
⌄
Yes, both. We made it for 6th Grade fractions & decimals, and the page works the same whether it lands on a kitchen table or a center rotation. At home, most families go through it together and talk the answers out loud, and that talking is where most of the learning happens with fractions to decimals. In class it runs well as independent work while you pull a small group. Print one copy or thirty, whichever the day needs.
How do you write a fraction as a decimal?
⌄
Divide the numerator by the denominator. For 3/8, divide 3.000 by 8 to get 0.375.
How do you write tenths and hundredths as decimals?
⌄
Tenths have 1 decimal place and hundredths have 2. So 3/10 = 0.3, 3/100 = 0.03 and 39/10 = 3.9.
Do these worksheets have answer keys?
⌄
Yes. Both sheets have an answer key, and the long division page shows the division for each fraction.
