Ancient India Achievements
Written by Adi Ackerman, Head Teacher
"Ancient India Achievements" is written for 6th Grade (Ages 11-12). If your student is a year younger but already steady on Ancient History, the page still works. You may just need to read the instructions out loud. And if they are older and Ancient India never quite stuck, this is a short review rather than busywork.

What does this worksheet teach?
⌄
Match rock edicts, chaturanga and more achievements of ancient India to their descriptions. The directions on the page read: Read about the Maurya and Gupta empires. Then answer the questions on page 2. An answer key is included.
Can I use this Ancient India worksheet for homeschool or classroom?
⌄
Yes, both. We made it for 6th Grade Ancient History, and the page works the same whether it lands on a kitchen table or a center rotation. At home, most families go through it together and talk the answers out loud, and that talking is where most of the learning happens with Ancient India. In class it runs well as independent work while you pull a small group. Print one copy or thirty, whichever the day needs.
What made Indus River Valley cities special?
⌄
Harappa and Mohenjo-daro were carefully planned. Streets crossed at right angles in a grid, many houses had a bathroom, waste water ran into covered brick drains and builders used bricks of a standard size.
Why is the Gupta period called a golden age?
⌄
It is often called a golden age because of its achievements in science, art and learning. Ancient India Achievements asks students to explain this and to match achievements to their descriptions.
Who was Ashoka?
⌄
Ashoka ruled the Maurya Empire from about 268 to 232 BCE. After a bloody war against the people of Kalinga he was filled with regret, promised to rule with kindness and had his messages carved on rocks and pillars.
