FAQ

How do I use this multiply fractions worksheet?

⌄

Start with Multiply Fractions by Whole Numbers, then move to two fractions with denominators to 12 and to 25. Use the mixed review as a check before fraction division.

What does this worksheet teach?

⌄

Multiply in 12 mixed problems, from 1 1/3 × 6 to 1 2/3 × 1 2/9, writing each answer in simplest form. The directions on the page read: Multiply. Write each answer in simplest form, as a whole or mixed number when it is more than 1. An answer key is included.

Can I use this multiply fractions worksheet for homeschool or classroom?

⌄

Yes, both. We made it for 6th Grade fraction multiplication & division, and the page works the same whether it lands on a kitchen table or a center rotation. At home, most families go through it together and talk the answers out loud, and that talking is where most of the learning happens with multiply fractions. In class it runs well as independent work while you pull a small group. Print one copy or thirty, whichever the day needs.

How do you multiply a fraction by a whole number?

⌄

Multiply the whole number by the numerator and keep the denominator, then simplify. For 4 × 2/3, that is 8/3 = 2 2/3.

Should students simplify before or after multiplying?

⌄

Either works. Multiply Two Fractions With Denominators to 25 asks students to simplify before or after, as in 5/9 × 18/17 = 10/17.

Do the multiply fractions worksheets have answer keys?

⌄

Yes. All 5 sheets have an answer key with each product in simplest form.
